Tim Walz’ Kids Troll Him While on Live TV: ‘Relatable’

Tim Walz’ children showcased their “relatable” relationship during his interview with MSNBC at the Democratic Democratic National Convention (DNC).

As the VP candidate answered a question, Gus and Hope Walz playfully gave their father bunny ears behind him in the live interview.

The clip was posted to X, formerly Twitter, by a user who goes by Nate Wallace, along with the caption: “Tim Walz’s kids doing bunny ears behind him while he’s on national TV at the DNC is the most relatable, Minnesota content.”

The clip has been viewed 4.9 million times and received 59,000 likes, with thousands more re-posting it, labeling it “wholesome” and “refreshing.”

Tim Walz was a good sport and even reposted the video on his own account writing, “My kids keep me humbled.”

It came on the same day as Tim Walz was formally confirmed as the Democratic nominee for the Vice President. He is expected to deliver an acceptance speech on Wednesday.

Both of Walz’s children have been a talking point of the campaign as they were conceived via IVF, a fact that Walz disclosed in response to suggestions that the Republican candidate JD Vance doesn’t support fertility treatments.

Tim and Gwen Walz named their daughter, born in 2001, Hope after spending seven years undergoing fertility treatments. Hope works as a social worker in Montana, according to the Star Tribune.

Gus Walz is 17 and about to start his senior year at St. Paul Central High School in Minnesota, the outlet reported.

Walz has long shared his children on his social media. In 2021, the Democratic candidate shared a heartwarming message on Facebook on Father’s Day.

“I am so lucky to be a dad to these two amazing kids! Happy Father’s Day to all the dads and father figures out there,” wrote Walz.

Wallz has been jokingly referred to as having “big dad energy” since he appeared on the national stage as Harris’ running mate, and his credentials as a Midwesterner became part of his appeal.

Walz will stay in Chicago with the DNC through Thursday. The Democratic Party launched its first Harris-Walz advertising campaign across the crucial swing states: Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, according to the Associated Press. The campaign includes billboard setups in major cities.
