“Tron” is an interesting franchise. While it’s a big-budget science fiction franchise that Disney seems to be rolling out now once a decade or so, the films have never been huge money-makers on their own. The first film, “Tron,” took in $50 million against a $17 million production budget and 2010’s “Tron: Legacy” made $410 million against a $170 million budget. When you consider money spent outside production, including marketing, “Tron” films historically do not bad but not great.
