Trump Administration Suffers Legal Blow Over Migrant Children Deportations

A federal judge in Arizona on Thursday temporarily blocked the Trump administration from deporting dozens of Guatemalan and Honduran children who arrived in the U.S. alone.

U.S. District Judge Rosemary Márquez granted a preliminary injunction, questioning whether the government had coordinated with parents abroad as it claimed. The ruling extends protections for the children, many of whom are in shelters or foster care, beyond a temporary restraining order issued earlier this month.

The case was brought on behalf of 69 children ages 3 to 17 by the Florence Immigrant & Refugee Rights Project.
