Trump Official Lays Down ‘Red Line’ Ahead of Iran Nuclear Talks

​In a recent interview with The Wall Street Journal, U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff outlined the Trump administration’s stance ahead of high-stakes nuclear talks with Iran scheduled for this weekend in Oman.

Witkoff emphasized to the news outlet that the administration’s “red line” is preventing Iran from developing a nuclear weapon. While the U.S. demands the complete dismantlement of Iran’s nuclear program, Witkoff acknowledged that compromises might be necessary to reach a diplomatic agreement.

“I think our position begins with dismantlement of your program. That is our position today,” Witkoff told The Journal. “That doesn’t mean, by the way, that at the margin we’re not going to find other ways to find compromise between the two countries.”

“Where our red line will be, there can’t be weaponization of your nuclear capability,” he continued.
