Trump Shares Edited Thanksgiving Video of Himself Popping Out of a Turkey
President-elect Donald Trump shared an edited — and bizarre — video that appeared to show him popping out of a turkey on Thanksgiving while dancing to The Village People’s Y.M.C.A.
The clip is an edited version of a famous scene from the movie National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.
In the original scene, father Clark Griswold cuts into a turkey at Thanksgiving while saying, “If this turkey tastes half as good as it looks, I think we’re all in for a very big treat.” In the movie, everyone at the table was disappointed because the turkey was overcooked.
In the edited clip, U.S. President Joe Biden is superimposed on Clark. When he cuts into the turkey, a glittering Trump emerges, dancing to Y.M.C.A., which was famously a staple at Trump rallies during the 2024 campaign season.
Superimposed on other members of the Griswold family were Trump’s political foes: Vice President Kamala Harris, California Representative Adam Schiff, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, New York Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Minnesota Representative Ilhan Omar.
A triumphant Trump continues dancing to the song while the others in the clip watch with varying expressions of shock, distaste, and amusement.
Trump’s signature fist-pumping dance move in the clip — which has been mocked by critics and some media commentators — went viral on TikTok and in the sports world after he won the election.
As Newsweek previously reported, in just one weekend this month, three NFL players, a professional golfer, and an MMA fighter celebrated their victories by bursting into what’s now known as the “Trump dance.” U.S. men’s national team star Christian Pulisic joined that list last week, when he broke into the “Trump dance” after scoring a goal against Jamaica.
Thursday wasn’t the first time a member of the Trump family has shared the edited video of Trump emerging from the turkey.
The president-elect’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., shared it during Thanksgiving in 2021, writing on X, “You’re welcome. Happy Thanksgiving.”
Trump also shared a defiant Thanksgiving message earlier Thursday, writing on Truth Social, “Happy Thanksgiving to all, including to the Radical Left Lunatics who have worked so hard to destroy our Country, but who have miserably failed.”
“Their ideas and policies are so hopelessly bad that the great people of our Nation just gave a landslide victory to those who want to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” he added.
