UFC star Bryce Mitchell turns on Donald Trump
UFC featherweight Bryce Mitchell, once a vocal supporter of President Donald Trump, has changed his opinion on the 79-year-old, going so far as to suggest he might be the anti-Christ.
Newsweek reached out to representatives for Mitchell and Trump via email for comment on Monday.
Why It Matters
Mitchell’s remarks come following a highly publicized loss at UFC 314 earlier this year and backlash over his controversial comments on Adolf Hitler, in which he called the German dictator a “good guy.”
What To Know
On Friday, Mitchell took to Instagram to share a two-minute-long video explaining why he no longer supports Trump. The 31-year-old said:
“Hey I wanna let y’all know I’m not with Donald Trump no more. I don’t support him, I don’t like him, I think he’s a corrupted leader, and it took me a while to come to that conclusion, but I finally am coming to it. I do not like the guy at all.
“The first thing for me was he didn’t release the Epstein files—they’re even acting like they didn’t exist. And of course they’re sending Israel and Ukraine all of our tax dollars, just like the numbnuts before him did. Putting America last, and now he’s blaming the beef farmers for the price of beef. Hey, I’m not biased man, he talked a good game, he tricked me, I was fooled, I admit it.
“Now let me tell you how bad I think this is though, this is really this bad guys. I want y’all, if you’re a Christian, I want you to get into Revelation 13.3 and I want you to read that verse, yeah about the anti-Christ about the one who was fatally wounded in the head, and then he was miraculously healed and the whole world marveled at him and said no man can make war with him.
“Yeah, I do think that Donald Trump is that beast of Revelation 13.3. Yeah, go read it. Go read it. There ain’t another man that’s ever walked the planet that fits Revelation 13.3, then read the rest of the chapter, and it’ll tell you the mark of the beast is coming in 42 months.
“Now, I’m not saying that I know that Donald Trump is this man of Revelation 13.3, I’m just saying, he’s the only one who could be right now. Go read Revelation 13, he’s the only man that fits that description, and I’m totally done with it, dude.”
He went on to say add Trump was “compromised,” claiming he was a “good actor” who had him “fooled for a long, long time.”
Currently, Mitchell’s clip has racked up more than 552,000 views and over 42,800 likes.
In April, Mitchell faced Brazilian mixed martial artist Jean Silva at UFC 314 in Miami, a match attended by Trump and several high-profile guests, including Elon Musk. Mitchell lost the bout via a second-round ninja choke after an intense fight. The Miami crowd roared on Mitchell during the event, chanting “U-S-A,” but the atmosphere shifted following his defeat.
This came after a series of controversial public statements by Mitchell. Earlier this year, he made headlines for denying the Holocaust, expressing admiration for Hitler and voicing strong support for Trump, despite criticism of some of Trump’s Cabinet picks—particularly those advocating for vaccines. Following widespread backlash, including disapproval from UFC CEO Dana White, Mitchell apologized, stating: “I am definitely not a Nazi.”
In January, Mitchell attended Trump’s inauguration for his second term in office.
“[I] had the experience of a lifetime celebratin the inaguration. God really hooked me up with the vip experience,” he wrote via Instagram at the time. “wat a thrill it was. time to get back to the farm and train like a madman. dont forget to swipe thru all the photos. the last one is the best lookin, me and 4 beautiful women that r so kind and full of life. God bless all yall and God bless this country that needs it so bad rite now.”
Despite his criticism of the president, Mitchell’s inauguration post is still pinned at the top of his Instagram grid.
What People Are Saying
Mitchell made antisemitic comments on the first episode of his ArkanSanity Podcast: “I honestly think that Hitler was a good guy, based upon my own research, not my public education indoctrination… He fought for his country. He wanted to purify it by kicking the greedy Jews out that were destroying his country and turning them all into gays.”
Dana White condemned Mitchell’s Hitler remarks, saying in a statement to ESPN: “I’ve heard a lot of dumb and ignorant s*** said over the years, but this is probably the worst. First of all, when you talk about Hitler, he was responsible for the death of six million Jews and it was his intent to completely eliminate Jewish people. And that’s a guy you would want to go fishing with?”
What Happens Next
At the time of publication, Trump has not yet responded to Mitchell’s remarks about him.
