Unemployment rate at 4.4% – The Budapest Times
In April 2025, the average number of employed persons aged 15–74 was 4 million 666 thousand. The number of unemployed persons was 215 thousand and the unemployment rate 4.4%.
In the period February–April 2025, the average number of employed persons aged 15–74 was 4 million 673 thousand, 32 thousand fewer than a year earlier. The number of employed decreased to 2 million 482 thousand for men, and to 2 million 191 thousand for women.
The domestic primary labour market employed 4 million 503 thousand people, 34 thousand fewer than in the same period of the previous year, while the number of public workers was 67 thousand and 103 thousand people worked abroad.
The employment rate for 15-64 year olds was 75.0%, 78.9% for men and 71.1% for women.
In the period February–April 2025, the number of unemployed people aged 15–74 was 217 thousand, with an unemployment rate of 4.4%.
The number of unemployed was 119 thousand for males and 98 thousand for females. The rate was practically the same for both sexes as in February–April of the previous year, at 4.6% for men and 4.3% for women.
The average duration of job search was 13.1 months, 44.1% of all unemployed had been looking for a job for less than 3 months, while 35.0% had not found a job for at least a year.
According to the administrative data of the National Employment Service, the number of registered job seekers at the end of April 2025 decreased by 1.0% to 228 thousand compared to a year earlier.
