Universal Epic Universe—Everything We Know About Theme Park

Amusement park fans have eagerly anticipated the unveiling of Universal Orlando Resort’s fourth theme park, Universal Epic Universe, and the opening date is drawing closer.

The new theme park will feature portals to five immersive worlds all in one place.

Universal Orlando Resort’s website says: “Step through amazing portals transporting you to the excitement of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter—Ministry of Magic, SUPER NINTENDO WORLD, How to Train Your Dragon—Isle of Berk, Dark Universe and Celestial Park.”

Newsweek emailed a spokesperson for Universal Orlando Resort for comment on Friday.

Here is everything you need to know about Universal Epic Universe ahead of its opening.

Universal Epic Universe’s Opening Date

The theme park will open to the public on May 22, 2025. The launch date was confirmed following a story in The Wall Street Journal that said the park could open as early as Memorial Day weekend.

“This is such a pivotal moment for our destination, and we’re thrilled to welcome guests to Epic Universe next year,” said Karen Irwin, president and chief operating officer of Universal Orlando Resort, in a statement.

“With the addition of this spectacular new theme park, our guests will embark on an unforgettable vacation experience with a week’s worth of thrills that will be nothing short of epic. Our universe will never be the same,” she said.

Five Worlds at Universal Epic Universe

Epic Universe will feature five themed lands and over 50 attractions and entertainment activities.

Celestial Park is located in the heart of the park and is the first thing visitors will see. It will serve as the gateway to the park’s four additional lands, which can be accessed through “magical portals.”

“Guests will embark on a journey of discovery, thrills and excitement in a world between worlds where breathtaking gardens, dancing fountains and stellar attractions inspired by astronomical and mythological elements create imaginative sensory delights,” the theme park’s website says.

Dark Universe immerses guests in a shadowy world inspired by Universal’s legendary monsters, like Dracula, the Wolf Man and Frankenstein’s Monster. Visitors can enjoy a family-friendly coaster through the woods, unique dining and explore the Frankenstein Manor.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter—Ministry of Magic is inspired by 1920s Paris in the Fantastic Beasts film franchise and the Ministry of Magic from Harry Potter. It offers whimsical shops, dining, entertainment and Universal’s “most groundbreaking ride yet.”

How to Train Your Dragon—Isle of Berk takes guests to a vibrant Viking world where dragons soar. Visitors can enjoy attractions, character meet and greets, themed dining and shopping.

Super Nintendo World lets guests step into a colorful, interactive land featuring Mario, Luigi, Princess Peac, and Donkey Kong. With attractions, themed dining, shopping and gamified experiences, it brings the Super Mario universe to life.

Where Is Universal Epic Universe Located?

The theme park is a short drive down the road from the existing Universal Orlando Resort parks. For those who want to go between the other parks and hotels, there will be complimentary resort shuttle bus trips.

When Will Tickets to Epic Universe Be Available?

A variety of multiday tickets and vacation packages will go on sale on October 22.

Annual pass holders have an exclusive opportunity to acquire single-day Universal Epic Universe tickets before they go on sale to the public. Passholders can take advantage of this opportunity starting October 24.

Hotels Near Epic Universe

There are three hotels near Epic Universe. Universal Helios Grand Hotel is just outside of Celestial Park in Epic Universe, with reservations opening on October 22 for stays beginning May 22, 2025.

Stella Nova Resort is opening on January 21, 2025, and Terra Luna Resort is slated to open early next year.
