US Charges Indian Government Employee in Foiled Murder Plot
The U.S. Department of Justice on Thursday announced criminal charges Thursday against an Indian government employee in connection with a foiled plot to kill a Sikh separatist leader living in New York City.
Vikash Yadav, 39, had been an officer in India’s Research and Analysis Wing spy service. He faces murder-for-hire charges in a planned killing that prosecutors disclosed last year.
Yadav remains at large.
“The FBI will not tolerate acts of violence or other efforts to retaliate against those residing in the U.S. for exercising their constitutionally protected rights,” FBI Director Christopher Wray said in a statement.
This is a developing story and will be updated when more information becomes available.
