The Minnesota Vikings got in one last piece of personnel business before the official start of the NFL free agency negotiating period on Monday, March 9.
Mike Garafolo of NFL Media reported in the early morning hours Monday that the team had come to terms with linebacker Eric Wilson on a new three-year contract.
“The #Vikings and LB Eric Wilson have agreed to terms on a three-year, $22.5 million deal with $12.5 million fully guaranteed, source says,” Garafolo wrote on X. “In his second stint in Minnesota, more than doubles his previous average per year in a new deal done by @RyanWilliamsA1 of @AthletesFirst.”

Wilson played all 17 games for the Vikings last season, starting 16 of those. He finished the year with 115 combined tackles, including 17 tackles for loss, 10 quarterback hits, a and four forced fumbles.
Pro Football Focus ranked Wilson the 41st-best linebacker out of 88 players who saw enough snaps in 2025 to qualify at the position.
Wilson, who will turn 32 years old early next season, has played nine NFL campaigns to date. He began his career in Minnesota as an undrafted rookie in 2017. He spent four years with the Vikings before splitting the 2021 season between stints with the Philadelphia Eagles and Houston Texans.
The Green Bay Packers employed Wilson from 2022-24 before he rejoined the Vikings last year on a $2.6 million deal. His career earnings through 2025 are $14.1 million. The guarantee alone on Wilson’s latest deal in Minnesota comes close to matching what he has banked over nearly a decade in the league up to this point.
