The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has issued a recall for hundreds of drawer dressers that were sold by Walmart because of the risk they could tip over if not anchored to a wall and kill or injure a child.
The recalled Gunaito 10-Drawer Dressers were manufactured in China and sold on Walmart.com for around $70. The CPSC has told consumers to stop using the recalled item immediately.

Why It Matters
Each year in the United States, unstable furniture causes thousands of injuries, particularly among children. According to a CPSC study, furniture tip-overs resulted in the deaths of 58 children between 2013 and 2023, and an average of 6,400 injuries per year.
In response to recurring tragedies, the Stop Tip-overs of Unstable, Risky Dressers on Youth (STURDY) Act was signed into law in 2022. It sets federal minimum stability standards for clothing storage units, and aims to prevent dangerous accidents and ensure only safe products are available on the market.
The CPSC said that the recalled dressers violate the mandatory standard required by the act.
What To Know
On October 2, the CPSC announced the recall of approximately 610 Gunaito 10-drawer dressers sold on Walmart.com after finding that they could tip over if not anchored to the wall, posing fatal hazards to children.
The dressers, which come in brown or white, feature metal frames, wooden tops, and collapsible fabric drawers. They were sold online from December 2024 through August 2025 for about $70 each.
The dressers measure about 39 inches by 39 inches by 12 inches, and weigh about 30 lbs. “HD006BN-SLCD” or “HD006WH-SLCD” is printed on the product packaging.
As of October 3, no injuries or incidents had been reported in relation to the recall.
The affected dressers were manufactured by Changzhou Hengze Home Furnishing Co. Ltd and distributed by Gunaito Direct.
