Warriors Announce Disheartening Steph Curry Injury Update With New Details


The hits keep on coming for the Golden State Warriors, as Stephen Curry faces uncertainty around a knee injury that could keep him out indefinitely.

Golden State made a statement on Thursday, February 20 addressing reports from earlier in the day about Curry’s knee issues.

“Warriors guard Stephen Curry, who has missed the last five games due to patella-femoral pain syndrome/bone bruising in his right knee, underwent an MRI Wednesday night,” the team posted to X. “The MRI confirmed the injury and showed no structural damage. He will be re-evaluated in 10 days.”

The confirmation of the bone bruise and the 10-day re-evaluation period, which is by no means a prediction of a solidified return timeline, were the new details of note beyond earlier reporting on Curry’s injury from ESPN’s NBA insider Shams Charania.

Charania detailed “persistent swelling and pain” in Curry’s knee ahead of what is his sixth consecutive missed contest against the Boston Celtics on Thursday night. The Warriors have recently referred to Curry’s ailment as “runner’s knee.”

Curry is now going to sit out at least five more contests, which includes a matchup on February 28 against the Los Angeles Lakers in the Bay Area.

The earliest the Warriors’ superstar point guard might return is for a home game against the Los Angeles Clippers two days later. Following that contest, Golden State heads out on a three-game road trip that includes stops against the Houston Rockets, Oklahoma City Thunder and Utah Jazz.

Curry is definitely going to miss games against the Denver Nuggets, New Orleans Pelicans and Memphis Grizzlies in between tonight’s contest against the Celtics and the showdown with the Lakers to wrap up the month.

Golden State enters its first game after the All-Star break with a record of 29-26 and occupying the No. 8 position in the Western Conference.

Curry is now ineligible for any awards/honors for the 2025-26 season, including MVP and All-NBA selections, after missing his 18th game of the season on Thursday.
