Watch Man’s Reaction as ‘Infertile’ Wife Tells Him She’s Pregnant
A woman proved the near-impossible possible to her ecstatic husband.
A video posted to Instagram by Cate Moon (@waitingforababe) has gone viral. It shares the moment Moon told her husband she was pregnant—with a 1 percent chance of conceiving.
Moon, 39, spoke to Newsweek about the surprise and how she and her husband have been preparing for the new baby.
“POV: You’re infertile, you have a one percent chance of conceiving, and you surprise your husband with the news that you’re pregnant and he breaks down into tears,” Moon captioned the video. “This was the first time I was able to surprise Collin and let me tell you, it was the shock of a lifetime—so much so, he cursed and didn’t believe me at first.”
Moon told Newsweek that their first pregnancy loss was in 2017. After that, she said, the “infertility nightmare” started—something that remains unexplained to this day.
Two years after that loss, Moon underwent her first round of in vitro fertilization (IVF), which ended in a miscarriage. Two years later, she had her first baby, Callum, born in 2021.
Ultimately, Moon underwent eight surgeries, 11 IVF cycles, several losses and intrauterine pregnancies. That’s why it was so shocking when she became pregnant naturally this year.
“If you told me the world was ending tomorrow, I would have believed it more than the positive pregnancy test,” Moon said. “We are still so unsure how this all happened.”
Moon said that besides the pregnancy, what was really special was being able to surprise her husband with the news after years of medical interventions and predicted outcomes.
“I can’t watch the video without tearing up because not only was this a spontaneous pregnancy that I thought impossible for us, but being able to surprise him like that was [incredibly] special and something I never in my life thought I would ever experience,” she wrote in the caption.
‘Blessed and Thankful’
Moon said her husband was so shocked at the news that he jokingly asked her, “When?! And with who?!” when she told him.
“That was the funny part, and I wish I had kept filming, “Moon said. “Overall, it was complete shock, and we are still living in this weird, complete shock state. What people don’t get is that for us, we just can’t believe people get pregnant like this. It feels too easy, too good to be true.”
The couple has had many talks since they found out about how much easier it is not to have to go through the IVF process. They speak about how different this pregnancy is amid constant confessions of shock and joy.
Ultimately, they are reflecting on their long chapter of infertility—and the opportunity to close it. The pair wanted a third baby so badly that they were ready to pay $30,000 for one more chance at an IVF cycle. After all their expenses during the other cycles, they didn’t know how they would swing it financially. But now they don’t have to.
“It’s been a heartbreaking reality, but we also are so blessed and thankful for our two babies,” Moon said. “We are most excited…to close the chapter of our lifelong dream of trying for a chance to have a third.”
