Why Fans Think Taylor Swift Just Dropped a Huge Easter Egg
Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek’s network of contributors
Taylor Swift’s fans know nothing she does is by accident. The “No Body No Crime” singer has a reputation for leaving Easter eggs and hints before announcing new projects, so when two of her albums disappeared from Spotify, the Swifties got out their magnifying glasses to look for clues.
Reputation and the 35-year-old singer’s debut self-titledalbum were taken out of her Spotify discography on Friday, January 24. While the eponymous album reappeared later the same day, Reputation is still missing as of publication. All that remains is a Taylor Swift Karaoke: Reputation album, which does not include Swift’s vocals.
The “I Can Do It With A Broken Heart” singer has been re-recording her albums after a dispute with Scooter Braun and Big Machine Records, having released albums like Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) and Fearless (Taylor’s Version).
Swifties were shocked that the pop star did not announce Reputation (Taylor’s Version)during her records-shattering Eras Tour, during which they frequently analyzed her outfits and body language as they looked for clues. Now, they theorize that the re-recorded album must be on its way.
“HELLO WHAT IS HAPPENING #reputationtaylorsversion #TaylorSwift #reputation” wrote one fan on X (formerly known as Twitter.)
“reputation announcement on jan 25th streets are saying…” theorized another passionate Swifty.
Another fan agonized over the absence of the albums and commented that the karaoke tracks were a poor substitute. “does she think she’s funny taking both reputation and debut but leaving the karaokes?? I ASKED FOR TAYLORS VERSION NOT TAYLORN’T VERSION” wrote the X user.
