WWE Star Calls Out John Cena for Final Opponent Tournament
John Cena dropped a massive announcement on “Saturday Night’s Main Event,” as he teased his final match in WWE. A 16-man tournament will determine Cena’s final match opponent before he officially retires.
That opened up the door to many possibilities, as Cena shared that the tournament could include stars from NXT, Raw, SmackDown, and even some who weren’t working in WWE. The promotional video showed various stars, including WWE’s Dominik Mysterio, Bronson Reed, and GUNTHER.
It also created the mystery of individuals not currently signed to WWE entering the tournament and possibly winning it. That may have immediately prompted fans to believe AEW stars like Edge or Chris Jericho could participate.
While any of those individuals could participate and win the tournament, one has already thrown his name into consideration as Cena’s final opponent, citing a 22-year grudge against Mr. “Hustle, Loyalty, Respect.”

Cena’s announcement, in a prerecorded video segment, aired during the live-streaming “Saturday Night’s Main Event.” It didn’t take long for NXT star Brooks Jensen to fire off a response to the video.
“It’s been 22 years since John Cena screwed my fathers career over… maybe my time is NOW #SNME,” he wrote on X.
Jensen also shared WWE’s video of Cena’s announcement, where the legendary champion runs through the details of the 16-man tournament.
Brooks Jensen, real name Benjamin Buchanan, is the son of former WWE star Bull Buchanan. Bull was with WWE from 1997 until 2003.
The reason for Brooks ‘”grudge” stems from when Bull teamed up with Cena in 2002 as his enforcer duriCena’sa’s rapper gimmick. That team was short-lived, and WWE released Bull in 2003.
FollowiBuchanan’sn’s departure from WWE, he worked in All Japan Pro Wrestling, Pro Wrestling Noah, and various independent promotions. The 57-year-old former WWE star currently remains on the indies.
Jensen’s been part of WWE’s NXT UK and NXT since 2019. A former NXT UK Tag Team Champion with Josh Briggs, Jensen is currently working with the new Evolve brand.
It’s unclear whether his call-out message means he’ll gain entry into the tournament. With 16 spots, many individuals will likely vie to be John Cena’s final opponent, potentially sending him out with a loss to end his WWE career.
