WWE Superstar Kairi Sane Suffers Brutal Injury During Monday Night RAW

Part of the fun of professional wrestling is getting to see athletes with larger-than-life personas execute moves and maneuvers that laymen could never think of.

That being said, professional wrestlers are still people and, unfortunately, these moves can go wrong.

Such was the case on last night’s episode of Monday Night RAW when Kairi Sane and IYO SKY of Damage CTRL faced off against The Unholy Union (Isla Dawn and Alba Fyre) in a No. 1 Contenders match for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship.

During the match, Sane leapt from the turnbuckle and hit her head against the edge of the announcers’ table, making a cut just above her eye.

No one knew what had happened until Sane was seen covered in blood, screaming in the faces of Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill, the current WWE Women’s Tag Champions.

Fortunately, Sane was checked out by WWE’s medical team and is not expected to miss any action.

Sane later shared an image of the aftermath of the match on Instagram, paired with a thumbs up emoji.

Later, she posted a story of her eye with some stitches, saying, “I need an eye patch, haha.” Fortunately, this will match perfectly with her Pirate Princess persona.

SKY also made a post, commending her tag partner for her toughness.

“I’m proud of my tag team partner,” SKY said. “Bleeding was nothing to her. Kairi Sane is insanely tough!!!!!”

Kairi Sane began her professional wrestling career with World Wonder Ring Stardom, known simply as Stardom, under the ring name Kairi Hojo.

She spent the next six years with the promotion. In her tenure with Stardom, Sane won the Wonder of Stardom Championship, the World of Stardom Championship, and numerous tag titles.

In 2017, Sane debuted with WWE, winning the Mae Young Classic tournament. She then joined NXT, where she won the NXT Women’s Championship.

In 2019, Sane moved up to WWE Friday Night Smackdown as a member of the Kabuki Warriors with Asuka.

Together, Asuka and Sane held the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship twice. They currently hold the record for longest reign at 180 days.

Sane soon left WWE to return to Japan with her husband. She spent the next few years with Stardom and New Japan Pro Wrestling.

In 2023, Sane returned to WWE at Crown Jewel and helped IYO SKY retain the WWE Women’s Championship.

Soon afterward, Sane joined SKY and Bayley to form Damage CTRL. Eventually, Asuka and Dakota Kai also joined the faction while Bayley left.
