Yankees Predicted To Cut Ties With Marcus Stroman Sooner Rather Than Later
The New York Yankees have put together a pretty solid offseason following the heartbreaking loss of superstar Juan Soto in free agency. They’ve added a plethora of talented players and it’s leaving a few rostered guys without a job heading into the 2025 season.
One player with a questionable future in the Bronx is pitcher Marcus Stroman
Joseph Kallan of FanSided recently predicted the Yankees would cut ties with Stroman before the end of manager Aaron Boone’s newly signed contract extension.

“Stroman might seem like the most obvious choice here, as there’s no guarantee he’ll even pitch in a Yankees uniform by the time the 2025 season begins,” Kallan wrote. “The veteran right-hander has made it clear he wants to remain in the starting rotation, but Boone and the Yankees’ coaching staff have yet to fully buy into that vision.
“With spring training serving as one of his last chances to prove himself as a reliable starter, Stroman’s future in pinstripes remains uncertain. If things don’t align, don’t be surprised if his name surfaces in trade rumors sooner rather than later.”
There’s no place for Stroman in the Bronx anymore.
Last season, he was a healthy scratch from the World Series roster. Now, the Yankees have added left-handed pitcher Max Fried to the top of their rotation to replace Stroman. They also have prospects like Brock Selvidge, Will Warren, and a few others to replace their $37 million righty.
It’s hard to imagine Stroman cracking the roster after spring training. It seems like New York will either trade or cut him as soon as possible.
