82-year-old woman accused of fatally shooting husband at care facility

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C.  (TCN) — An elderly woman allegedly fatally shot her husband at a care facility last week.

On Sept. 12, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of shots fired at the Preston Health Center. Responding deputies located 82-year-old Harriett Recker next to her husband, identified by WTOC-TV as 81-year-old Dennis Recker, who was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Dennis Recker died from his injuries.

According to the sheriff’s office, authorities arrested Harriett Recker in connection with her husband’s death. She faces charges of murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime and was booked into the Beaufort County Detention Center.
