Alaska man sentenced in armed robbery and deaths of couple who were killed in front of 5-year-old
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (TCN) — A man has been sentenced to 80 years with 20 years suspended for his role in the armed robbery and shooting deaths of a man and woman whose young son said “ninjas killed my parents.”
According to the Alaska Department of Law, on Nov. 19, Judge Jack McKenna handed down the sentence to 27-year-old DeAnthony Harris in connection with the 2016 deaths of Christopher Brooks and Danielle Brooks. Harris will serve 10 years of probation following his release.
Savon Wiley planned to rob Christopher Brooks on Dec. 24, 2016, by luring him under the guise of purchasing marijuana. Wiley’s accomplices, Lamarkus Mann, Jaylyn Franklin, and Harris went into Christopher Brooks and Danielle Brooks’ residence armed with guns to carry out the robbery of marijuana and money. The department of law said Danielle Brooks’ 5-year-old son was home at the time.
The armed robbers reportedly entered the residence and began firing their weapons. Danielle Brooks died inside the house, and Christopher Brooks was killed while trying to escape and crawl onto the outside steps. The 5-year-old boy told authorities, “Ninjas killed my parents.”
Franklin entered a plea agreement in 2019 and was sentenced to 100 years with 20 years suspended. Both Mann and Wiley were sentenced in 2020 following trial. Mann was sentenced to 109 years, and Wiley was sentenced to 76 years with 20 years suspended.
