Arizona man allegedly stabbed a mother and her 2 daughters in random attack
MESA Ariz. (TCN) — A jury recently indicted a 22-year-old man on suspicion of stabbing a mother and her two daughters in what authorities called a random act of violence.
The Maricopa County Attorney’s Office said on Oct. 2 that a jury indicted Lowell Dorn on two counts of attempted first-degree murder, one count of first-degree burglary, and one count of aggravated assault.
According to KTVK/KPHO-TV, on Sept. 17, Dorn allegedly broke into the victims’ home through an unlocked door and stabbed a 16-year-old girl multiple times. Her mother reportedly tried to intervene by striking Dorn with a hammer, but he began stabbing her and her 18-year-old daughter. Allegedly, Dorn struck the mother in the face at one point with “an unknown blunt object and an Xbox gaming system.” She reportedly suffered a fracture to the face as a result.
According to KTVK/KPHO, one of the daughters escaped to a friend’s home to call for help, and Dorn later fled the scene. The suspect reportedly didn’t know the victims.
One of the daughters allegedly suffered critical injuries to her neck, but all of the victims are expected to recover. Per KTVK/KPHO, the state attorney said the victims would have died had they not defended themselves and sought medical treatment.
According to court documents, Dorn told authorities he stabbed the victims “with intent to kill.” He also allegedly claimed he had bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, anxiety, and depression, but he had not taken his medicine for several months.
Dorn remains held on a $2 million bond. His trial is scheduled for Jan. 27, 2026.
