Boston man who fatally stabbed the mother of his children and fled to Florida is sentenced
File
BOSTON (TCN) — A 42-year-old man recently pleaded guilty to stabbing his ex-girlfriend to death inside her apartment in 2022.
The Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office announced Jan. 7 that Christopher Howard entered the plea for second-degree murder in connection with the death of 40-year-old Terkeisha Boykins. He subsequently received a sentence of life in prison with parole eligibility after 20 years.
According to prosecutors, on the night of May 10, 2022, witnesses heard a commotion coming from Boykins’ bedroom and opened the door to find Howard on top of her, stabbing her with a knife. Howard fled the state following the attack, but authorities arrested him about a week later in Jacksonville, Florida, on May 17, 2022.
Howard and Boykins reportedly shared two daughters, and the victim had four other children.
Boykins’ daughters made impact statements in court, including her 18-year-old child, who said, “My mom was one of the most generous people that I had the blessing to call my mother. She was the most loving and caring person who would put anybody above herself no matter what, even if that means giving her last. She is the reason I am who I am today, and I miss her every day.”
The victim’s 16-year-old daughter added, “It’s unfair that my sisters and I had to lose our loving, kind, caring, and heartwarming mother at a young age. I pray that my mom gets justice and that she continues to watch over all of us every day. I miss her more than words can explain.”
Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden stated, “Terkeisha Boykins’ daughters couldn’t have been more eloquent in expressing memories of their mother, who very clearly loved them and who was very clearly loved in return. I thank them for their beautiful tributes and I thank everyone who worked so hard to bring the person responsible for Terkeisha’s tragic death to justice.”
