California man allegedly stabbed his ex’s new boyfriend to death
OXNARD, Calif. (TCN) — Authorities recently arrested a 24-year-old man on suspicion of fatally stabbing his ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend.
On the evening of Feb. 23, the Oxnard Police Department responded to Wilson Avenue, where they found Eugenio Lopez Ramirez with stab wounds to his torso. Officers and Emergency Medical Services personnel attempted lifesaving measures before Ramirez was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
Following a weekslong investigation, detectives identified Gonzalo Garcia Rodriguez as the primary suspect in the stabbing. According to the Ventura County Star, investigators believe Rodriguez allegedly killed Ramirez at another location, but the victim collapsed near Wilson Avenue and First Street.
Police arrested Rodriguez on March 11, at which time he was already in custody on separate charges. The Ventura County District Attorney’s Office announced two days later that they charged him with first-degree murder and special allegations and aggravating circumstances, including use of a deadly weapon, causing great bodily injury, and that the victim was vulnerable. Rodriguez remains held without bail and is scheduled to appear in court on April 21.
