Conn. man accused of fatally stabbing his 19-year-old girlfriend and toddler son
WEST HAVEN, Conn. (TCN) — Police arrested a 26-year-old man for allegedly stabbing his girlfriend and young son before jumping out of a glass window.
According to the West Haven Police Department, on Saturday, Feb. 15, at 8:50 p.m., several neighbors called 911 after hearing “screaming and yelling for help” coming from an apartment on Meloy Road. Some of the callers also told police that a man hurled himself out of a second-floor glass window and landed on the walkway outside the apartment.
Officers arrived at the scene and found Jevon Fletcher outside with injuries, and he was taken to a nearby hospital for care. Other officers went inside the apartment and located 19-year-old Hailey Miller and a 2 1/2-year-old boy, identified by WVIT-TV as Ta’Naj Fletcher, suffering from stab wounds. They were both pronounced deceased at the scene. Police said Ta’Naj Fletcher was Jevon Fletcher’s son.
WVIT reports Miller was not Ta’Naj Fletcher’s mother, but noted that she does have a 3-year-old son.
Fletcher was taken into custody for two counts of murder, two counts of murder with special circumstances, and one count of risk of injury. His bond was set at $3 million. West Haven Police called the stabbing a “tragic incident” and “heinous crime.”
Miller’s family told the New Haven Register that she had started applying to nursing school and “had plans to do so much more with her life.”
