Delta pilot arrested upon landing in San Francisco for allegedly sexually assaulting a child
SAN FRANCISCO (TCN) — Authorities arrested a 34-year-old pilot from Florida on suspicion of sexually assaulting a child after he landed in San Francisco.
According to the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office, detectives began investigating allegations of sex crimes against a child in April and identified Rustom Bhagwagar as the primary suspect. Officials secured a warrant for Bhagwagar’s arrest and learned he was an airline pilot.
According to SFGate, the suspect worked for Delta Air Lines and was previously a registered pilot in San Ramon.
Authorities learned Bhagwagar was due to fly into San Francisco International Airport on the evening of July 26. Sheriff’s office detectives, along with Homeland Security personnel, boarded the plane at around 9:35 p.m. to apprehend Bhagwagar. He was reportedly arrested from the cockpit shortly after arrival and booked into the Contra Costa County Jail on five counts of oral copulation with a child under 10 years of age. He remains held on $5 million bail.
