Florida woman sentenced for arranging to have the father of her child killed
SANTA ROSA COUNTY, Fla. (TCN) — A woman will spend the rest of her life behind bars for having her ex-stepdad fatally shoot the father of her child approximately two years ago.
According to prosecutors, on March 19, 2023, Moore’s former stepfather, Jason Curtis, fatally shot Colby Vinson. Vinson had just arrived home with his 4-year-old daughter, whom he shared with Moore, and was unloading groceries at the time. Authorities responded to a home to a report of a shooting and found Vinson’s body next to his daughter, Santa Rosa County Sheriff Bob Johnson said in a press conference. A judge reportedly granted Vinson shared custody of the child.
Upon further investigation, authorities learned Moore had communicated with Curtis in the week leading up to the shooting. Curtis reportedly drove from Alabama to Florida to kill Vinson, a plan the two previously discussed. Moore allegedly gave her former stepfather gas money and provided him with Vinson’s information so he could find and shoot him.
The Cullman County Sheriff’s Office arrested Curtis on an arrest warrant out of Santa Rosa County. Investigators searched his car and reportedly found a firearm and a handwritten note with a description of Vinson, his vehicle, and addresses.
