Human remains found suspected to be Travis Decker’s, man accused of killing his 3 daughters
According to the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office, multiple law enforcement agencies executed a search and found human remains in a wooded area south of Leavenworth. Authorities haven’t yet positively identified the victim, but preliminary findings suggest the remains belong to Decker.
The victims’ mother first reported her daughters missing on the night of May 30 after a planned visitation with their father, Decker, who was believed to be living out of a GMC Sierra truck. On June 2, authorities allegedly discovered Travis Decker’s truck unoccupied near the Rock Island Campground with two bloody handprints. While searching the immediate area, investigators reportedly discovered the bodies of the missing daughters, 5-year-old Olivia Decker, 8-year-old Evelyn Decker, and 9-year-old Paityn Decker, and determined they likely died of asphyxiation.
Officials tested blood samples from the truck, created a DNA profile, and concluded it was likely a match to Travis Decker. DNA from Decker’s personal items found at the scene also matched the DNA in the blood samples.
The sheriff’s office said they have been “in contact with the Decker family and are providing them with support and updates as the investigation proceeds and are asking for continued privacy and respect for the family.”
