Man allegedly curb-stomped mother after argument about school, finances
KING COUNTY, Wash. (TCN) — A 61-year-old woman was found deceased in a condominium and her son has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with her death.
KOMO reports deputies with the King County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence on Feb. 24 after a caller told 911 dispatchers he had returned home and discovered Thuy Nu Thu Ton unresponsive on the floor. When deputies arrived, they found Ton’s eyes swollen and blood coming out of her nose. Lifesaving measures were attempted but Ton was pronounced dead at the scene.
KING reports that the King County Medical Examiner listed Ton’s manner of death as homicide and her cause of death as due to multiple blunt force injuries.
Investigators learned the condo owner rented a room to Ton’s son, Antony Ton Le, 30. Ton reportedly stayed there often, helping care for Le by cooking and cleaning, KOMO reports. Investigators learned from the condo owner that Le was reportedly diagnosed with bipolar disorder and schizophrenia and had a history of violence when unmedicated. According to probable cause documents obtained by KING, Le had been unmedicated for five months.
KOMO reports Le was taken into custody without incident. During an interview with detectives, he allegedly said he believed he had killed his mother after arguing about school and finances. According to court documents obtained by the outlet, he allegedly said he put her in a chokehold, threw her to the ground, and “curb-stomped” her neck several times.
According to an affidavit, “[Le] noted how angry he was and that he likely killed her on the ‘third stomp’ and ‘over-killed her’ and stomped her four or five more times,” Us magazine reports. Le then allegedly wrapped her in blankets, which he said was to “heal” her, and allegedly listened to her make noises for about 30 minutes before she died. He then allegedly gave her a hug.
During his interview, KOMO reports, Le also talked about AI video, demons, and possession.
Le was arrested Feb. 24 on investigation of murder. KING reports the court found probable cause for his arrest on a charge of second-degree murder and set his bail at $2 million.
The investigation is ongoing.
