Man allegedly sliced woman’s throat on bus in Tulsa
TULSA, Okla. (TCN) — A 42-year-old man stands accused of slicing the throat of a 43-year-old woman who was sitting in front of him on a bus.
On the afternoon of Aug. 3, the Tulsa Police Department responded to a possible stabbing at a bus station. Witnesses told authorities that the suspect, Robert Rhoades, left the scene on foot.
Bicycle patrol officers reportedly followed witnesses’ directions and located Rhoades and took him into custody without incident. Police observed apparent blood on his clothes, as well as a bloody knife in his pocket.
Witnesses, including the bus driver, told officials that Rhoades boarded the bus and sat directly behind the victim, but “they had no prior interactions or verbal exchanges.” Rhoades allegedly sliced the woman’s throat as the bus arrived at the main station before leaving the scene.
Due to the severity of the victim’s injuries, homicide detectives were called to the scene.
As of Aug. 3, police said the victim had surgery, and “doctors remain hopeful for the victim’s recovery as she is now stabilized.”
Rhoades faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon and false impersonation. He also remains held on a fugitive from justice warrant out of Missouri.
