Maryland man convicted of raping his stepson’s 12-year-old girlfriend

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, Md. (TCN) — A 35-year-old man who had previously molested a child in Texas was recently convicted of raping his stepson’s 12-year-old girlfriend.

According to a news release from the Maryland State’s Attorney’s Office, a judge found Christopher McGee guilty on Aug. 1 of second-degree rape with a 12-year-old victim. He is scheduled to be sentenced on Sept. 19.

In December 2023, the Anne Arundel County Police Department began investigating allegations of child sex abuse against McGee when he was 34. Prosecutors said McGee was the 12-year-old victim’s boyfriend’s stepfather.

According to the state’s attorney’s office, authorities uncovered a “pattern of grooming and manipulation by the defendant to convince the child to engage in a relationship with him.” Investigators reportedly recovered a photo of McGee kissing the 12-year-old girl, as well as “explicit social media communications.” Prosecutors said officials also obtained a nude photo of McGee in the child’s possession.

After the verdict, State’s Attorney Anne Colt Leitess said, “This defendant’s behavior is both shocking and disturbing in how he manipulated a young vulnerable girl to believe that they were in love. It is particularly concerning because he molested another 12-year old girl in Texas. His prison time and registration as a sex offender apparently did not deter him from reoffending. The state will be seeking a significant prison term at his sentencing.”
