Michigan man allegedly went on stabbing spree at Walmart, injuring at least 11
GARFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (TCN) — A 42-year-old man stands accused of stabbing and injuring nearly a dozen people inside a store over the weekend.
According to the Grand Traverse Sheriff’s Office, on July 26, a deputy responded to a Walmart in Garfield Township after central dispatch received reports of a man actively stabbing people. Multiple citizens reportedly confronted the suspect, Bradford Gille, in the parking lot to prevent him from harming more victims or leaving. He was taken into custody without further incident.
The sheriff’s office alleges that Gille used a folding knife with a 3.5-inch cutting blade to stab and injure at least 11 victims, both male and female and between the ages of 29 and 84. Responding law enforcement and emergency personnel rendered aid before they were transported to a hospital for further treatment. According to authorities, one victim works for Walmart.
Gille was booked into the Grand Traverse County Jail pending formal charges and arraignment. According to the sheriff’s office, authorities have requested charges of terrorism and 11 counts of assault with intent to murder.
Gille reportedly has a criminal history of assault and controlled substance violations. The sheriff’s office said his motive remains under investigation.
