Minnesota father allegedly killed and decapitated his son

ANOKA COUNTY, Minn. (TCN) — A 38-year-old father has been charged in connection with the death of his teen son, whose remains were found in a landfill.

According to a press conference posted by the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office, 16-year-old Jordan “Manny” Collins Jr. was last seen on May 8 and reported missing several days later. The investigation led authorities to a landfill in Elk River, where they found Collins Jr.’s body.

Per a criminal complaint reviewed by KSTP-TV, preliminary autopsy findings revealed “evidence of decapitation by knife,” and Collins Jr.’s death was ruled a homicide.

Upon further investigation, the sheriff’s office announced that the Anoka County Attorney’s Office charged the victim’s father, Jordan Collins Sr., on July 9 with one count of second-degree murder.

According to KSTP, investigators located suspected bloodstains in trash cans in the living room closet of Collins Sr.’s home, as well as multiple butcher- and hunting-style knives in a bedroom closet. There were reportedly missing pieces of carpet and carpet padding under a mattress on the bedroom floor. Investigators allegedly discovered the bloodstains matched Collins Jr.’s DNA, and more of the victim’s blood was found in his father’s home.

According to the complaint, Collins Sr. told authorities he last saw his son on May 10, and he tried calling him but didn’t hear back. However, phone records reportedly show that Collins Sr. called his son once after investigators reached out to him about his missing son.

Collins Sr. remains held in the Anoka County Jail on $3 million bail. His next court date is set for Aug. 4.
