Ohio man accused of killing his ex-wife in 2001 and leaving her body inside a vehicle
HURON COUNTY, Ohio (TCN) — A 50-year-old man is in custody after allegedly killing his wife over two decades ago and leaving her body inside a car.
According to the Ohio Attorney General’s Office, on the night of Thursday, Oct. 18, 2001, 25-year-old Regina Hicks left her boyfriend’s home in her white Chevrolet Camaro to pick up her son, but she never arrived. Several days later, her vehicle was found in a pond in Willard with her body inside.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation worked with the Huron County Sheriff’s Office on the case, but no arrests were made at the time.
On April 22, authorities arrested the victim’s husband, Paul Hicks, after he was indicted on three counts of murder and one count of kidnapping. He remains held in the Huron County Jail without bail.
According to WLWT-TV, Hicks previously took a plea deal and was convicted of a misdemeanor insurance fraud charge after setting his home on fire and trying to blame it on his girlfriend in 2015.
