Pa. foster mom accused of killing 9-year-old missing girl whose body was found in river
FAYETTE COUNTY, Pa. (TCN) — A 31-year-old foster mother stands accused of killing a missing girl whose remains were discovered partially submerged in a river.
In a bulletin from the Pennsylvania State Police, authorities said 9-year-old Renesmay Eutsey was last seen on Sept. 3 at around 2 a.m. The following day, the Fayette County District Attorney’s Office announced that her body was found in the Youghiogheny River.
According to WPXI-TV, the girl’s foster mother, Kourtney Eutsey, faces charges of criminal homicide, two counts of aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of children, abuse of a corpse, tampering with evidence, and concealing the death of a child.
Fayette County District Attorney Michael Aubele reportedly said Renesmay Eutsey appeared malnourished, and there were multiple bruises and cigarette burns on her body.
According to court documents reviewed by WPXI, Kourtney Eutsey told authorities that on the night of Sept. 2, her foster daughter vomited and began to choke. She allegedly said she tried to help by removing the vomit and performing CPR, but the 9-year-old died. Eutsey reportedly told officials she was afraid to call 911 because of how skinny the victim was and a burn on her.
Eutsey allegedly placed her foster child’s body in a black bag and tote, drove to the Youghiogheny River, and dumped her remains along the shore bank.
According to WPXI, the other children living in the suspect’s home have been removed.
As of Sept. 4, Eutsey’s wife has reportedly not been charged.
