ST. CLAIR COUNTY, Mo. (TCN) — A couple has been charged with first-degree child endangerment after allegedly failing to get medical treatment for their son’s severe staph infection.
Ozarks First reports William Robinson, 41, and Keisha Morgan, 35, were charged in connection with neglecting their child’s painful MRSA infection for over a year. Crime Online reports that they were booked into jail on Jan. 13.
MRSA is a staph infection that can become life-threatening because it does not respond to most common antibiotics, Ozarks First reports.
In addition to each being charged with first-degree child endangerment, Robinson was charged with evidence tampering and Morgan with felony abuse or neglect of a child — no sexual contact, according to Ozarks First.
The investigation into the couple began Oct. 16, 2025, when employees at the child’s school became concerned about his condition. Reportedly his sores were so painful he could not sit or walk. The child has not been named by authorities.
During a hospital visit, medical staff found sores on the child’s body in various stages of healing, and some were the size of baseballs, Ozarks First reports. According to court documents obtained by the outlet, Morgan and Robinson had been aware of the infection for over a year. Morgan said she had applied medication but did not remember what kind it was.
In addition, Robinson allegedly poured out a sample of the child’s urine that was set out for testing. When questioned by detectives, he said he was afraid of what might be found in it, specifying alcohol, marijuana, and semen. Morgan stated it was done because she was afraid she would lose custody of the child.
The child reportedly told investigators he had been sexually abused by another child in the home, which was also not reported by Robinson and Morgan.
The other children in the home have been placed into state custody, according to Ozarks First.
