‘Prodfather’ rabbi planned torture of men who wouldn’t grant divorce in Orthodox community
For women in the Orthodox Jewish community, seeking a divorce is no easy feat, especially because the husband needs to also sign off on it. In New York, members of the community who weren’t granted a divorce turned to Rabbi Mendel Epstein, the “Prodfather,” for help in getting their husbands to sign the divorce document, even if it meant resorting to violence.
