Virginia mom allegedly rolled over 2-month-old son, who died of suffocation and acute meth exposure
ROANOKE, Va. (TCN) — A mother faces multiple charges after allegedly rolling onto her son in bed and killing him.
According to the Roanoke Police Department, on the morning of Feb. 14, officers responded to a report of an unconscious infant on Hanover Avenue Northwest, where they located 2-month-old Aka-rri Burnette-Coleman deceased. The baby boy’s mother, 37-year-old Lindsey Burnette, reportedly told authorities she and her son were sleeping in the same bed, and when she woke up, he was unresponsive.
The medical examiner’s office determined on May 14 that the infant died of suffocation and acute methamphetamine toxicity. Police allege Burnette “rolled onto Burnette-Coleman while she was sleeping.”
A jury indicted the mother on Sept. 2 on charges of felony homicide, abuse/neglect of a child causing serious injury, and child cruelty. She was arrested the following day and remains held in the Roanoke City Adult Detention Center without bond.
