Woman allegedly bludgeoned man to death and left note on his chest that said ‘PEDO Touches Children’
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (TCN) — A 21-year-old woman allegedly bludgeoned a 41-year-old man to death and accused the victim of sexually grooming her since she was a child.
According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, in the early hours of July 2, deputies responded to a possible dispute on Manotak Avenue, where they found Waduta Woodley suffering from multiple blunt force injuries. Authorities said in an arrest report that Woodley was behind a stairwell with a large amount of blood under him, as well as on the walls and ground outside the home.
The sheriff’s office reportedly found a piece of paper on Woodley’s chest that said, “PEDO Touches Children,” written with a green highlighter.
Jacksonville Fire and Rescue personnel responded and pronounced Woodley deceased. An autopsy revealed he died of multiple chop injuries, and his death was ruled a homicide.
According to the sheriff’s office, investigators executed a search warrant at the residence and discovered bloody footprints leading from the doorway to the bathroom. They also located a metal hammer in the bathroom sink with blood on the handle.
Authorities said a sink drain plug was found in Journee McGrew’s bedroom and tested positive for blood. Other pieces of evidence included a pair of Crocs, a black tank, and sweatpants, all covered in blood. Investigators also located a pink notebook with loose paper and one green highlighter.
Patrol officers detained McGrew at the scene. According to WJXT-TV, McGrew asked if Woodley was still alive as she was being detained.
McGrew allegedly told investigators the victim had been sexually grooming her since she was 8. She reportedly claimed that she sent a text to the victim on July 1 telling him she had been fantasizing about him sexually, and she invited him to her home.
According to WJXT, McGrew told officials Woodley tried to have sex with her, but she denied his advances and asked him to leave. As they walked toward the entrance, she allegedly retrieved a hammer and later struck him with it.
McGrew’s claims about being sexually groomed and assaulted by Woodley have not yet been corroborated, WJXT reports.
McGrew faces charges of second-degree murder and tampering with evidence.
