The government will maintain its strategy of job creation, investment promotion and tax cuts in order to preserve full employment, Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said on Thursday in Ózd (northern Hungary).

The minister emphasized at the handover ceremony for Neutrik Hungary Kft.’s investment that the state supported the Liechtenstein-based electronics company’s investment of approximately HUF 3.7 billion (EUR 9.25 million) with HUF 1.4 billion (EUR 3.5 million), thereby helping to create 260 new jobs.

In his speech, he explained that the company is a world leader in the manufacture of circuit and electronic connectors used in the entertainment industry and will also assemble such devices in Hungary.

He also mentioned that the company had moved into Johnson Electric’s recently closed plant in Ózd, and that the production hall had been renovated and converted to be energy efficient, and that some of their predecessor’s former employees had also been taken on.

He emphasized that this is the third time in the last ten years that the state has provided support for an investment by a Liechtenstein company, but the Hungarian consulate in Vaduz has recently opened, so hopefully even more can be gained from this relationship.

He also mentioned that industrial production in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County has doubled in the last decade, from HUF 2,200 billion ( EUR 5.5 billion) to HUF 4,400 billion (EUR 11 billion).

Unemployment has fallen from over 10 percent to around 7 percent, and we are proud that over the past eleven years, the government has provided support for 151 major investments, which have created more than 10,000 new jobs in the county,”

he recalled.

Péter Szijjártó emphasized the importance of maintaining the country’s stability and economic growth in these dangerous times, which, in his opinion, requires physical, energy supply, and economic security.

Regarding the first point, he emphasized that Hungary has been living in the shadow of the war in Ukraine for more than three and a half years, suffering its serious negative effects, which is why the government is firmly committed to peace and rejects any initiative that would lead to a prolongation of the fighting.

He lamented that many people cloak the issue of energy supply in political and ideological rhetoric, when it is purely a matter of physical reality.

This is why you can see that, in addition to valuing and maintaining our existing energy sources, we are constantly introducing new energy sources to guarantee Hungary’s energy security,”

he said.

Finally, he spoke about economic security and emphasized that the goal is to maintain the results achieved so far, which, in his words, requires new and further investments.

Because our most important achievement is that today in Hungary we can say that anyone who wants to work can do so. Over the past fifteen years, the number of jobs in Hungary has increased by one million,”

he noted.

The minister explained that the more jobs are created and protected, the stronger the Hungarian economy will be.”That is why we are maintaining our strategy of job creation, investment incentives, and tax cuts,” he said.

“Tax increases always cause trouble and problems, and they threaten jobs and the country’s competitiveness,” he warned.
