Hungarian telecoms and technology company 4iG has recently been involved in several space-related programs, which have not been without results. The company’s stock price has been rising steadily, reports Világgazdaság.
4iG shares shot up more than 6 percent to over 1,700 forints (4.25 euros) by midday on Tuesday. According to Portfolio data, the lowest price for the shares in 2024 was 720 forints (1.80 euros), while the highest price was recorded in February this year at 1,920 forints (4.80 euros). The 180-day average price of shares is 1,251.22 forints (3.12 euros).
4iG Space and Defense Technologies Ltd (4iG S&D), part of the 4iG Group, and Germany’s CPI Vertex Antennentechnik GmbH signed a major contract on Tuesday for the implementation of the HUSAT satellite program announced on November 20 last year.
The contract covers the supply and installation of antennas for the HUGEO and HULEO program elements of the HUSAT program at two satellite earth stations in Hungary.

Under the contract, the German company will supply central antenna systems for the stations – eight satellite dishes with a diameter of 9-11.5 meters – and install the associated radio frequency equipment for 4iG S&D, under the professional management and supervision of Hungaro DigiTel, also a 4iG Group company.
The HUSAT program is the largest privately initiated and financed satellite program in Hungary and the Central and Eastern European region.
With the program, 4iG S&D plans to launch one geostationary orbit telecommunications satellite (HUGEO) and eight additional low earth orbit high resolution VHR1 Earth observation satellites (HULEO) by 2032, which it will operate during their lifetime.
The HULEO constellation will have six electro-optical (HUEOP) and two synthetic aperture radar (HUSAR) satellites in orbit.
As Hungary Today reported earlier, 4iG is also in talks with Elon Musk’s SpaceX on potential collaborations and partnership opportunities in space technologies, launch services, and Starlink solutions. The Hungarian company also recently announced a partnership with Houston-based space infrastructure developer Axiom Space. Their main aim is to explore and develop joint space industry cooperation opportunities, including in the area of orbital data center (ODC) services. The parties will also set up a joint working group to explore areas for development along the synergies between the two companies.
