“We are well prepared, well thought out and working according to a pre-determined strategy to defend Hungary and ensure the safety of the Hungarian population,” said the Minister of Defense on Thursday at the Tisza crossing between Martfű and Vezseny as part of the Adaptive Hussars 2025 (ADHU 25) military exercise.
Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky explained that the entire exercise is part of what is known as force development, an extremely complex and complicated process. Hungary recognized as early as the beginning of the 2010s that more dangerous times were ahead and that it would be necessary to transform our defense forces into a much more powerful, operational, and “sharper” force, the minister added.
He said that the timely procurement of equipment had now paid off, but that numerous other conditions still had to be met in order to create a powerful armed force capable of ensuring Hungary’s security. As examples, he cited
the maintenance of equipment, the existence of combat procedures developed for the equipment, and the mastery of various doctrines by personnel.

The most important factor is people, the minister emphasized. People can be recruited through appropriate recruitment measures, and training must prepare soldiers for the new equipment, he added. The minister also described the mentality of the soldiers, the “ethics” they adhere to, as extremely important: “Why they are fighting, why the Hungarian soldiers are where they are, and how they can ensure the security of Hungary.”
An important part of the development of the defense forces is ADHU 25, an excerpt of which was shown today, he noted.
The exercise is a “feedback” on the process of defense forces development.
The Defense Minister pointed out that exercises of this size and complexity are important for gaining experience.

Minister Szalay-Bobrovniczky noted that with the help of the regiment in Szentes, the troops had carried out the extremely complex crossing presented on Thursday at a high level.
The minister said it was very important that the defense forces be able to operate not only on their own, but also in cooperation with other areas of state administration. In his opinion, the demonstration was a good example of this, as representatives of other authorities – such as disaster control and the police – also practiced together on the bridge built by the army. The entire exercise was characterized by the cooperation of all armed forces, the minister emphasized.
