African Delegation Explores Hungary’s Cutting-Edge Water Management Solutions

At the invitation of the Hungarian Water Partnership (HWP), delegates from 15 African countries arrived in Budapest to learn about the latest technologies, experiences, and cooperation models in the Hungarian water industry, the non-profit organization supporting the Hungarian water sector announced on Wednesday.

The 45-member delegation, consisting of experts and high-ranking decision-makers, will participate in professional programs, plant visits, and discussions, states the announcement. The visit could strengthen cooperation between the two continents in the water sector and is considered a milestone, as no such high-level delegation has ever arrived from Africa before. As a highlight of the program, guests will also be able to attend the international conference “Future of Water – Innovative Responses to Global Water Challenges,” that will be held on Friday at the Planet Budapest 2026 sustainability event.

The delegation’s visit, that will last until Saturday, is a sign of confidence in the Hungarian water industry and also a serious opportunity for the country, said the HWP’s statement. The organization’s president expects that the meetings will lay the foundation for long-term cooperation and joint projects.

Hungarian water management solutions are used on several continents, and their importance is recognized by the United Nations,

emphasized President of HWP Károly Kovács.

François Olivier Gosso, head of the African Water and Sanitation Association (AfWASA) is confident that African experts will learn about solutions that can be successfully implemented in their home countries. He believes that the adoption of modern technologies and the establishment of new partnerships can also improve water purification and wastewater treatment in Africa, the statement said.
