The Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology of the University of Pécs (PTE MIK) has signed a cooperation agreement with the Hungarian subsidiary of Bosch Group for research and development, the improvement of educational programs, post-graduate education and talent management.
In a press release, the higher education institution said that the university and the Group have already cooperated in the field of testing driver assistance systems in virtual environments and the use of 3D metal printing in the automotive industry. The new agreement offers new opportunities for both parties.
Under the cooperation, the Bosch Group will host PTE students on internships, while company employees will receive professional training and an incentive program will be launched for the university’s most talented students, teachers and researchers.
András Kemler, head of facilities management at the Bosch Group, was quoted as saying that future cooperation between the two parties could include projects in automation, various types of testing, such as non-destructive material testing, and that new products could be developed as a result of the R&D process. “We think that we cannot solve everything by ourselves, that to be successful we need different perspectives, to strengthen our ecosystem. It is the added value of cooperation that gives us the strength to approach things from a scientific perspective rather than through our industrial lenses. (…) By involving academic partners we can be faster, more flexible, better, which is essential in today’s world,” he said.
The agreement will also launch a complex excellence program that will enhance the role, place and value of faculty mentors alongside students, Gabriella Medvegy, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Sciences, was quoted as saying. She added that the program will enable industry-driven project work by students to produce meaningful results in academic higher education.
