The Budapest Central European Fashion Week (BCEFW), launched by the Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency (HFDA), has become one of the most prestigious fashion events in Central Europe. The 15th season, taking place February 10-16, will celebrate regional fashion with a more colorful cavalcade of programs than ever, reports Turizmus.com.
The BCEFW has so far provided the opportunity for nearly 150 designers to showcase their work twice a year, with 25-30 fashion shows per season. Attendance at the event has grown steadily over the years, with the first season in spring 2018 attracting 1,500 guests. This has now grown to more than 5,000 attendees per season, complemented by tens of thousands of online views on social media platforms.
The event’s catwalks have regularly seen the return of prominent figures in Hungarian contemporary fashion design, as well as international designers on the cusp of global stardom.
The Fashion Week thus creates not only cultural value but also increasing economic value: through fashion diplomacy, it promotes dialogue between countries in the region, builds national image and opens up new economic opportunities for businesses.
Initially, through a strategic partnership with the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, the international mentoring of Hungarian brands and their participation in Milan Fashion Week was a major focus. However, the emphasis on regional involvement has grown stronger each season.
While previously only a few designers from regional countries took part, the 2024 Autumn BCEFW showcased collections from nearly 50 designers from 15 countries, including Hungarian, Czech, Slovak, Slovenian, Polish, Romanian, Ukrainian, Serbian, Bosnian-Herzegovinian and Moroccan designers.
The 15th Budapest Central European Fashion Week, taking place February 10-16, will see more international partnerships than ever before, with designers from six countries (Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Poland, Slovenia and the Czech Republic) showcasing their work.
During BCEFW AW2526, nearly 50 designers, including young talents and established brands, will showcase their latest collections. Alongside fashion icons, fashion-conscious programs and exciting accompanying events will make the jubilee unforgettable, while beauty care will be added to the BCEFW theme this year.
