Chinese Tech Giant to Open Its Biggest European Factory in Kaposvár Next Year

Construction work on the new factory building in the Kaposvár Western Industrial Park is underway, which will enable J-Star Motion Hungary to start production early next year. The construction is progressing at an excellent pace, with the walls already in place and interior assembly work underway at the company’s future largest European factory, Sonline reports.

The company will produce linear actuators in Kaposvár (southwestern Hungary), and plans to export them overseas. “We plan to start trial production at the plant, the third in Europe, in January,” said Tonghe Fan, factory director of J-Star Motion Hungary Kft.

He explained that

with the European expansion, it was an important goal to reach their partners directly from Europe instead of having to ship from China.

The Kaposvár factory is located on a 97,000 square meter site, of which we have already built 47,000 square meters, the building is 22,000 square meters and we plan to expand it in the future, said Tonghe Fan.

The factory was also visited by Mayor Károly Szita and Deputy Mayor Zsombor Borhi this week.

Next year will be an industrial history year for Kaposvár, as three factories are being built in the city at the same time,”

said Károly Szita, referring to the new Szabó Gear factory being built opposite the J-Star factory hall, while the new Sisecam glass factory being built in the Eastern Industrial Park will be completed next year.

J-Star Motion was established in 2000 in Xinchang, China as a subsidiary of Jiecang, a Chinese giant, that provides intelligent motion solutions to intelligent offices, sunlight management, medical care, smart home, and in industrial fields. J-Star Motion is a manufacturer of linear actuators and lifting columns for use in medical and home care equipment. A linear actuator is a device that converts rotational motion into linear motion in order to move objects in a straight line. Linear actuators are used in machine tools, and in computer peripherals such as disk drives and printers, and in many other places where linear motion is required.

With an annual production capacity of 600,000 actuators, J-Star Motion is now a leading supplier for companies around the world. The company currently employs 600 people. The Hungarian factory will initially employ 90 people, a number that could be increased to 200 in the future, according to the factory manager. The Kaposvár factory is being built with €60 million and is expected to generate sales of €80 million.
