Liverpool FC ended its recent losing streak in the Premier League on Saturday evening. The Reds won 2-0 at home against Aston Villa on the tenth match day. Hungarian international Dominik Szoboszlai was voted Player of the Match as the key player in the turnaround. He was the only Hungarian professional in the starting line-up.

Dominik Szoboszlai’s team had suffered a bitter 3-0 cup defeat to Crystal Palace during the week. However, the 25-year-old Hungarian midfielder showed an outstanding response against Aston Villa. His compatriots Milos Kerkez and goalkeeper Ármin Pécsi watched the game from the bench. Ármin Pécsi was in the professional squad for the first time.

The game was opened in the first half by a goal from Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian scored the opening goal shortly before half-time, his 250th goal for Liverpool.

In the second half, Ryan Gravenberch made it 2-0.

Although Dominik Szoboszlai was not directly involved in the goals, his performance was rewarded with the Player of the Match award.

This was the fourth time he had received this accolade in the season. An assist from the Hungarian captain to Hugo Ekitike was ruled out for offside, but his overall performance was impressive.

Liverpool FC’s success was largely down to the strength of their midfield engine. The Hungarian international completed all of his dribbles and tackles. He made five ball recoveries and won three tackles. In addition, he had three shots on goal and created three scoring chances.

The victory saw Liverpool climb to third place in the table. Dominik Szoboszlai’s outstanding form is therefore an important sign for the upcoming tasks in the league and in international competition.
