Reflecting on his performance, Szoboszlai explained, “we knew we could make them make mistakes, and we did our best to do that. Our pressing worked well, and that is how we got the goal.” His impact was not just limited to the goal, as he played a crucial role in the team’s pressing and created multiple chances. His excellent fieldwork could not have been matched by a better response to the criticisms from the British press than a goal.
The team’s collective effort was also key to the win. Despite Southampton’s quick goals in the second half, Liverpool remained focused and fought back with determination. Szoboszlai said,
the most important thing was our reaction… we did not give up and took the three points.”
Looking ahead, Szoboszlai expressed optimism for the future. “It is great to be where we are at the moment, but it will not be easy,” he said, referring to their upcoming match against Manchester City.
