First BMW Rolls off the Production Line in Debrecen

The first test production vehicles of the all-electric Neue Klasse X model have been assembled at the BMW Group’s Debrecen plant, eastern Hungary, marking the start of the final preparatory phase for the start of series production at the end of 2025, Világgazdaság reports.

The test vehicles will now pass through all production steps, and all logistics processes, production equipment and worker operations should run smoothly, the portal quotes the German-headquartered company’s press release.

The operations carried out during test production are as complex as those for actual series production.

Despite the limited number of parts, they must be made available within the framework of the appropriate logistical processes. During this phase, new employees also receive intensive training on the equipment and machinery. Close cooperation between all production departments ensures that all processes are smoothly integrated once series production has successfully started, reads the release.

The Debrecen plant is already receiving materials and parts on a daily basis, and test vehicles are now rolling off the production line.

Every component and every production step is rigorously checked. Particular attention is paid to validating state-of-the-art production systems and tools, including their digital connectivity.

Running system tests on the future vehicle model helps to identify further optimization opportunities. In the coming months, the focus will be on fine-tuning processes based on the knowledge gained. “The production of the first test vehicles in Debrecen is an important milestone for the start-up of the new plant,” the release quotes Milan Nedeljkovic, Member of the Board of Management of BMW AG responsible for Production, as saying.
