Football Fans Get Extra Flight to Yerevan for World Cup Qualifier

Due to high demand, Wizz Air is launching an additional fan flight to Yerevan, where the Hungarian national football team will face Armenia in a World Cup qualifier on November 13.

In its Thursday announcement, the airline emphasized that tickets are now available for both the outbound flight to Armenia and the return trip. Return flights are scheduled for an early morning arrival in Budapest the day after the game. The special flights will offer fans a comfortable, direct journey and the chance to spend a full day cheering on their team at the stadium.

The Hungarian national football team made headlines in the last World Cup qualifying round by holding Group F favorites Portugal to a hard-fought 2-2 draw in Lisbon, denting the Portuguese side’s early hopes of qualification.

After four rounds in the group, Marco Rossi’s team is in second place with five points, qualifying for the play-offs.

With a win in Yerevan – provided the Irish do not score at home against Portugal – the Hungarian national team can secure this position.

The Hungarians will play their final group match against the Irish three days later, that could decide their final position and increase their chances of qualifying for the World Cup.

The Hungarian Football Federation recently announced that tickets for the Armenia–Hungary World Cup qualifier on November 13 sold out shortly after sales began.
