Forced Conscription in Ukraine Claims Another Ethnic Hungarian Victim

Foreign Affairs Minister Péter Szijjártó stated on Facebook on Saturday that there has been another Hungarian fatality as a result of forced conscription in Ukraine. A Hungarian man, Zsolt Rebán, was reportedly forcibly taken from the street in the Berehove (Beregszász) district.

“They wanted to conscript him, but he fell ill at the training center due to a heart condition and unfortunately passed away,” Minister Péter Szijjártó continued.

Of course, in addition to expressing our condolences, we will provide every support to the victim’s family. Forced conscription is ongoing in Ukraine, with what is effectively an open manhunt taking place on the streets,”

he added.

FM Péter Szijjártó also emphasized that it is time to end the war, the war-mongering policies of Brussels, and that it is time for the international community to take action against forced conscription in Ukraine. He also believes that despite the fact that the war in Ukraine has been going on for four years, Brussels continues to fuel tensions despite American peace efforts.

They want to give hundreds of billions of euros to the Ukrainians, they want to give them even more weapons, they want to prolong this war, even though this war brings suffering, tragedy and death every day”

he said.

“Peace is needed, the war must end, and the Hungarian government supports peace efforts. Until these are successful, we must remain out of this war,” he concluded.

The Prime Minister’s Political Director Balázs Orbán expressed his condolences on his X page, emphasizing:

“In Ukraine, conscription has turned into open manhunt, with reports of beatings, unlawful detention, and the mobilization of people who should never be sent to war. Four years into the conflict, this is the reality. And still, the Brussels elite looks away. The EU continues to pour money into Ukraine without any rational justification, while serious human rights violations are ignored and European citizens are asked to pay the price.

This policy does not serve peace, and it does not serve Europe. It is time to put an end to the war and to the pro-war policies coming from Brussels. It is obvious that Ukraine is not ready for EU membership, not even in the medium term.

What Europe needs is not escalation, but responsibility.”

Fact

As Hungary Today reported, another man, József Sebestyén lost his life in the Berehove (Beregszász) hospital after being severely beaten by Ukrainian recruiters. The Hungarian citizen was captured by recruiters last May, who then, according to his brother, beat him with iron bars in a forest. Two videos were released showing the man on all fours, in poor condition, while being laughed at. Prime Minister Viktor Orbán previously called it unacceptable that Ukraine is using brutal means against its own citizens, including Hungarians in Transcarpathia (Ukraine).
