Wizz Air announced the launch of direct flights to Bilbao, Wrocław, Gdansk and Vilnius from Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport as of July.
With these new flights, Wizz Air will fly from Budapest to over 70 airports in 33 countries, making available an additional quarter of a million seats per year and further diversify Budapest Airport’s network of 136 direct destinations this summer, Turimus.com quotes Wizz Air’s release.
Spain is a long-standing favorite of Wizz Air’s Hungarian passengers, with Madrid and Barcelona among the most popular destinations, with daily flights from Hungary.
As of today, tickets can be purchased to a total of ten Spanish cities, and from July the airline will also launch direct flights to the picturesque northern Iberian Peninsula.
The Spanish city of Bilbao is an attractive destination for lovers of football, fine arts, architecture and natural beauty. The city’s football team, Atletico Bilbao, has been a consistent participant in one of the world’s most powerful football leagues, the Spanish first division (LaLiga), for almost 130 years. The largest city of the Basque Country is probably well known to El Camino fans, the city being a stop on the northern route.

With the addition of Wrocław and Gdansk, the number of Polish cities with direct flights from Budapest has now risen to three, as Warsaw has long been included in Wizz Air’s route network.
Wrocław is the historic capital of Lower Silesia, the center of south-western Poland, with numerous architectural masterpieces and imposing medieval churches. Its sights and atmosphere are comparable to Krakow, but tourists have yet to discover it.

By contrast, Gdansk, on the Baltic coast, is a true tourist paradise, its old town rich in historical and cultural treasures now a World Heritage Site. Gdansk is one of three closely linked Polish cities, along with Gdynia and Sopot, that together form the famous Tri-City.
The Budapest-Vilnius flight will finally provide direct links between Hungary and Lithuania.
The Lithuanian capital boasts the largest contiguous Old Town in Europe, with nearly thirty churches.
